John Terry has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur star, Harry Kane won’t ‘win trophies’ if he continues to play with Spurs.

The ex-Chelsea captain spoke to beIN Sports about how Kane is one of the best forwards in the world, but he wants to win trophies and won’t do that with them.

Kane has been lethal when leading the line for Tottenham. He’s netted 261 goal in 408 games, which makes him the club’s all-time goal scorer.

However, they’re yet to win a major trophy with Kane in the side. The last major trophy they won was the League Cup back in the 2007/08 season, beating Chelsea 2-1.

Here’s what Terry had to say about Kane: “He’s clearly not going to win trophies playing at Spurs is he?”

“Let’s be honest with ourselves, as David [Villa] said, he’s one of the best strikers in the world, one of the best number nines probably in the world at the moment. He wants to win trophies, he wants to play for the best and biggest teams. Spurs are not that, Spurs are not going to give him trophies, what he wants. He wants to finish his career with some trophies.”

TIF’s view on Terry’s comments…

We believe that like any player, Kane is someone who wants to win trophies. However, despite not winning a major trophy in a long time, the forward may want to commit his future to the club.

Manager Antonio Conte is someone with European pedigree. He’s won the Italian League four times as well as a Premier League and FA Cup trophy, just to name some of his accolades.

So, perhaps Kane is confident that with Conte at the helm, he can in fact lift a trophy with Spurs.

However, there’s talk around Conte’s future at the moment. The Italian’s contract is up at the end of the season. It could well mean that Kane starts to think about his Spurs future should Conte leave in the summer.

At the end of the day, Terry does love to wind up Spurs fans, he has a history of it. So the comments are likely done to get a reaction out of Tottenham supporters.
