Journalist Darren Lewis has slammed Tottenham fans for calling out Antonio Conte’s style of play.

Despite being called out for their “boring” football, as Gabriel Agbonlahor branded it, Tottenham have recorded back-to-back victories for the first time in nearly three weeks.

It comes after successive Premier League defeats had left the club in third place and five points off the top spot having played a game more than leaders Arsenal.

Nevertheless, Lewis has hit out at supporters he has seen questioning Conte’s tactics.

Speaking on the TalkSport GameDay podcast prior to their midweek win, he said:

“Honestly, any Tottenham fan who believes that Conte should be binned off because they’re not happy with the style of play at the moment, honestly, they just don’t know that much about football. Honestly. Because this guy has a plan and I think he will execute that plan, ultimately, if he gets the tools to do it with.”

TIF Thoughts on Lewis’ comments…

Are Spurs hard to watch?

Yes

Yes

No, we're still winning games!

No, we're still winning games!

There is no denying the Italian manager is a proven winner and his philosophy, although not appealing to all, is certainly effective.

He won a Premier League and an FA Cup in his two seasons at Chelsea before moving to Inter and leading the club to their first Scudetto in 11 years.

The 53-year-old could well be the man to end Spurs’ trophy drought, which will surpass 15 years come February.

Despite the criticism, only the top two have scored more goals than the Lilywhites (26) in the league this term.

Lewis clearly disagrees with those who have come for the coach, and given the club’s current position, we feel the supporters haven’t really any cause for complaints.
