Tottenham Hotspur fans should not get their hopes up over a potential January exit for right-back Emerson Royal.

This is according to transfer journalist Ryan Taylor, who has been speaking about the Brazilian’s future on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel.

There have been some suggestions Italian giants Juventus were showing an interest in the Spurs defender ahead of the winter window.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

Earlier in the year, there were also links to Atletico Madrid, who were believed to have an eye on the Brazilian after less than one year in north London.

However, Taylor has cast major doubts over those reports linking Emerson with a potential Spurs exit, with over three years remaining on his deal.

He said: “I’m not sort of looking down on these as such, but I would take a lot of the Italian reports with a pinch of salt, especially with Emerson Royal. I’ve seen a lot of stuff in recent weeks, like Juventus, but a lot of it just gets snowballed.

“Honestly, there’s nothing really imminent with Emerson Royal, which I’m sorry to say.”

TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments…

This will likely disappoint a lot of Spurs fans who will be hoping to see Emerson depart after what has been a disappointing spell in north London for the 23-year-old.

In his 59 appearances for the Lilywhites, the right-back has provided a return of just one goal and two assists across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

Goal contributions aside, he ranks incredibly low in shot-creating actions and progressive passes among comparative players in his position (via FBref).

However, it seems as if Spurs fans may have to endure him in north London for a little longer, with the reports from Italy not given much credit by Taylor.
