Tottenham Hotspur would likely see a lot of clubs show an interest in right wing-back Djed Spence if they were to make him available in January for a loan move.
This has been suggested by Alasdair Gold, who has been speaking on his latest YouTube video, where the January transfer window was a major talking point.
Spurs made the promising signing of Spence over the course of the summer as they beat the likes of Borussia Dortmund to the 22-year-old, who had an impressive 2021/22 campaign in the Championship.
However, it has been a difficult start to life in north London for the defender, who has been handed minimal game time by Antonio Conte across all competitions.
With just 26 minutes of first-team football under his belt, Gold believes there will be a long line of clubs looking to take Spence on for the remainder of the season if he is made available for a loan.
He said: “If the expectation is that Spence is going to get no game time, I think it would be in his best interest to go and have a loan [and] come back.”
“If Conte says to him, ‘look, I’m probably not going to play you much in the second half of the season’, I think you have to, personally. And I think there’ll be a hell of a lot of interest as well.”

We have been extremely surprised not to see Spence at least handed an opportunity in the starting XI by Conte so far this season given their first-choice right wing-back was cheered off the pitch on Saturday by his own fans.

Spence came on against Nottingham Forest last week in the Carabao Cup, and despite playing under half an hour, the youngster left Gold impressed with his attack-minded cameo:
He wrote of his display: “The brightest of Spurs subs, trying to take the game to Forest with a few surging runs up the pitch and one header that forced Hennessey into a flying save.”
He was also labelled ‘really, really good’ by Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff.
If Conte does not have Spence in his plans for the remainder of the campaign, we think it is essential Spurs allow him to leave on loan in the summer.
And if we were Tottenham, we would be looking to send Spence to another Premier League club where he would get regular action to prove what he is capable of doing in the English top flight.
