Davinson Sanchez has been handed a 4/10 match rating for his part in Tottenham Hotspur’s disappointing Carabao Cup exit.

Antonio Conte named a strong lineup to try and advance to the last 16 of the competition, but with two goals in seven second-half minutes, Nottingham Forest took the tie away from the visitors.

Even with Orel Mangala getting sent off for the final quarter of an hour, the Lilywhites were unable to find a route back into the game.

Conte will have had no complaints on the night, but some of the players he selected most certainly let him down.

Writing for football.london, Alasdair Gold gave Sanchez just a 4/10 rating for his display and justified it with the following comment:

“Not a convincing performance from the Colombian, in keeping with recent shaky displays.”

Is Sanchez good enough for Spurs?

The 26-year-old had started each of the last two Premier League games prior to Sunday’s loss against Liverpool.

However, he was recalled to the starting lineup on Wednesday evening, although he failed to make an impression.

He won less than 50% of his duels, including losing 5/10 in the air, according to SofaScore.

The centre-back was kept busy as he made a team-high five clearances, but he also ranked joint-first among his teammates for possessions lost (14).

It’s hard to imagine Sanchez will keep his place for the final fixture against Leeds United before the World Cup, and although he isn’t out of contract until 2024, the £67k-per-week ace could find himself phased out of the team if Conte brings in another centre-half in either of the next two windows.

To me and many loyal Spurs fans, it’s obvious who we should try to move on. Royal is Saints quality (sorry Saints fans) Sanchez, Lo-Celso, NDombele, Maybe Davies, too boring most of the time. Doherty. Bissouma, give him time. Give me the Leeds lad in between the sticks anyday!! love Lloris, but maybe time to move on?!!?
