Tottenham Hotspur are yet to table an improved deal for Antonio Conte to continue as manager of the club.
That is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has insisted that the Lilywhites will do all they can to hold on to the Italian coach.
The 53-year-old is under contract until the end of the season, but Spurs will be hoping to secure his long-term future.
He arrived with the club in ninth place and steered them to a Champions League finish.
This term, meanwhile, Conte has guided the club to their best league start in almost 60 years, but the erratic nature of his career has raised concerns.
When asked on the House of Champions YouTube channel whether would Tottenham do everything they can to keep hold of Conte, Romano replied:
“Yes, they will. They are prepared to back Antonio Conte, to give him basically what he wants. So they are prepared to make this proposal.
“To be 100% clear, I was checking also [this] morning and what I’m told is that there is still no proposal on the table, so there are not direct negotiations yet between Antonio Conte and Tottenham.
“Because they know Antonio, and Antonio is now 100% focused on Premier League, on [their] Champions League group.
“He doesn’t want to enter into contract talks now. There is this World Cup break that is the perfect opportunity to discuss, so the official proposal I think will arrive in November, in December.”

According to Transfermarkt the manager only stays in a job for an average for 1.18 years, just over 14 months.
This week marks a year in north London for the former Juventus coach and it is easy to see why the higher-ups would be concerned.
However, having spent close to £120m in the summer and with Romano suggesting that the club will invest again in January, the Premier League and an FA Cup-winning manager could be enticed to stick around.
But as the journalist pointed out it may not be until the new year that supporters can be at ease with this situation with Conte clearly focused on the task at hand.
