Nottingham Forest have been slammed as they were fortunate not to see their second goal on Saturday disallowed.

This has been suggested by the former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys, who has been writing on his latest blog following the latest round of Premier League action.

It was another eventful game at the City Ground which saw Forest earn themselves a late point against Thomas Frank’s Brentford thanks to an injury-time own goal.

Having been unable to seal the win after taking an early lead, Steve Cooper’s side clinched a point that leaves them bottom of the table, but now just three points behind 17th-placed Bournemouth.

However, Keys has questioned the decision from the officials to allow the equaliser to stand, having argued that Ryan Yates was stood in an offside position in the lead-up to the goal.

He wrote: “Forest got away with one. Their second goal should have been ruled out. Yates is clearly offside as Forest batter the door down looking for the equaliser. He’s standing behind the ‘keeper and in front of Ben Mee, who’s doing his best to clear the ball off the line.”

TIF Thoughts on Keys’ comments…

It is hard to see where Keys is coming from with this claim when Yates did not interfere with play in any way during the own goal from Mathias Jorgensen.

Were Forest robbed by VAR on Saurday?

Yes

No

No

There is no doubt Yates was in an offside position, but he had no involvement in the goal, with the two Brentford defenders finding themselves in a huge mix-up.

And even if it was deemed that Yates played a part in the goal, we think a lot of Forest fans will take some pleasure in it following the penalty awarded against them earlier in the game.
