Newcastle United owners PIF will make funds available to Eddie Howe if he wants to improve his squad in the January transfer window.

That is the opinion of journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking about the latest news from St. James’ Park ahead of the January transfer window.

PIF have already demonstrated their backing of Howe following a summer transfer window which resulted in the club reportedly spending over £114m on bolstering the former Bournemouth manager’s squad this season.

That is on top of the money they spent last January to bring in players such as Lyon and Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimarães (£35m), and Kieran Trippier (£12m plus add-ons).

And O’Rourke believes that the owners won’t think twice about backing Howe again in the transfer market, as the side look to build on an impressive start to the Premier League season which has them sitting in third-place in the Premier League table come the break for the World Cup.

“I’m sure if Eddie Howe wants to improve the squad, they will make funds available to try and improve things.

“I think Newcastle with the project which is going on right now, I think it’s an exciting prospect for potential transfer targets.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We think that Newcastle fans will be over the moon to hear that PIF are likely to back Howe in the transfer market if he wants to bolster his squad, with the two previous windows proving to be a huge success.

With the side seemingly putting themselves in a position to at the very least fight for European, and potentially Champions League football, as well as progressing to the last-16 of the Carabao Cup, PIF may choose this window as an opportunity to build on a fantastic opportunity for the club to have an incredible season.

Therefore, we think that this news will just continue the current feel-good factor that currently surrounds St. James’ Park.
