Newcastle United have got the right people working behind the scenes ahead of the Premier League’s break for the World Cup

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from St James’ Park.

There have been a number of changes behind the scenes at Newcastle since the Saudi Public Investment Fund’s takeover of the club in October 2021.

The club have welcomed Darren Eales in a CEO role, Dan Ashworth as sporting director and Peter Silverstone as CCO over the last few months, signifying a number of structural changes at the north-east club.

And Downie believes that these appointments suggest that Newcastle have now got “the right people in place to get the ball rolling”.

He said: “Obviously, work is underway behind the scenes and the right people [are] in the right positions now in the shape of Darren Eales; Dan Ashworth’s there as well.

“They’ve also got a CCO in the shape of Peter Silverstone.

“So, they’ve got the right people in place to get the ball rolling, there.”

TIF Thoughts on Downie’s comments…

We believe that the appointments behind the scenes at Newcastle are a major positive factor for the club and its supporters, with the Magpies likely to be in a stable position ahead of the January transfer market.

Ashworth in particular is an impressive appointment, having previously worked with the FA, as well as playing a particularly impressive role at Brighton & Hove Albion in the same position, where his signings have helped the Seagulls stay in the Premier League over the last three seasons.

Therefore, we believe that the work going on behind the scenes at the club shows that PIF have a clear project in place across all areas of St James’ Park, and will no doubt excite the fans of Newcastle as to what may come in the future.
