Journalist Jacque Talbot has suggested that Bruno Guimaraes’ links to Real Madrid could be a result of his agent looking to get him a better deal at Newcastle United.

Talbot was speaking on his YouTube channel. He spoke about the Brazilian’s love for the club and whether his desire for European football could push him to eventually leave St James’ Park.

Guimaraes joined Newcastle back in January, signing from Lyon. Since his arrival, he’s impressed fans and pundits alike. In fact, Toon legend, Alan Shearer described him as a player who ‘can do it all’.

In the meantime, he has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool in the recent past.

Here’s what Talbot had to say on the Guimaraes situation: “He does love the Toon, but also, his trajectory is such, he’s one of the best central midfielders playing at the moment.

“And you’ve got his agent there clearly making loads of noise in the background – links to Real Madrid; Liverpool have been there as well.

“So is the agent doing that to maybe get that move to Real Madrid? Or is he doing it because he wants Newcastle to press ahead with this new contract and bring his money up?”

TIF Thoughts on Talbot’s Guimaraes comments…

We believe that there is reason for some concern about Guimaraes’ future given the rumours circulating about his future. However, the way the season is going for Newcastle, he could well be competing in Europe on Tyneside next season.

They’ve endured an impressive start to the campaign and the midfielder has been a big part of it.

He has a sentimental attachment to the club, describing his experience in Newcastle so far as ‘amazing‘.

And with the wealth they possess, the Magpies will surely be capable of getting a new Guimaraes contract wrapped up as soon as they can. It would be a big blow if he left Tyneside so soon after his arrival, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the agent was tempted by a power play to get his client the best deal possible.
