Reporter Alex Crook has claimed live on TalkSport that Simon Jordan should apologise to Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.

It has been very well documented and reported that Howe was not seen as the right man for Newcastle when he was appointed just over a year ago, with Jordan not thinking he could do a good job – particularly with the club’s defence.

However, he’s certainly gone some way to proving people wrong, with the Magpies sitting third going into Christmas and having the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League, which has been a huge reason behind their amazing surge up the table.

Crook now believes his TalkSport colleague, should be apologising to Howe for his comments around this time last year.

The journalist said: “He was scathing when Eddie Howe took the Newcastle job. He accused him of bottling it when he didn’t go to Celtic when he had the opportunity. I think he owes Eddie Howe a massive apology, and I think there are other people out there as well because he wasn’t seen as a glamorous name, people said ‘oh, he’s only ever done it at Bournemouth’; I tell you what, Howe, he’s proved people wrong.”

TIF Thoughts on Eddie Howe…

It’s only right that people who called out Howe over a year ago when he was appointed Newcastle manager eat their words, as the turnaround he’s overseen on Tyneside has been extremely impressive and deserves all the plaudits he gets.

Jordan certainly had a lot of comments on Newcastle over the last year, having claimed their takeover was dead, despite it then going on to be pushed through, with the Magpies faithful revealing a banner of his words a few weeks ago at St James’ Park.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

While some may point towards the fact they’ve spent a lot of money in 2022, the way Howe’s managed to turn around the fortunes of players such as Joe Willock, Joelinton and Fabian Schar has been a huge reason behind the club’s recent success on the pitch and must be appreciated.
