Newcastle United prospect Garang Kuol has stated that he wants to make an ‘impact’ at the World Cup with Australia in Qatar.
The winger spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald where he set out his ambitions for the tournament.
At only 18-years-old, Kuol already has four goal contributions in four games for the A-League side. Furthermore, he played for A-League XI against Barcelona. His performance against the La Liga side caught the eyes of many.
He said: “I want to prove myself. I’ve just got to go into it with the right mindset. It’s all about having confidence in yourself and being ruthless, having that mindset to want to create something and make an impact.”
TIF’s view on Kuol’s comments…
We believe that Newcastle fans and Eddie Howe, in particular, will love the attitude displayed by their future player. The World Cup is a big stage and for someone of his age to be so confident, it’s admirable.
The Socceroos are in a tough group, with the likes of France and Denmark. So they will need passion, hunger and desire. Which are the attributes that Kuol has shown from his comments.
Some Newcastle fans will be watching Australia’s opener against France very closely. They’ll hope to be blown away by him, for some supporters it could be the first time they’ve watched him.
It’ll be a tough test against the current World Cup holders. However, should Kuol shine on the big stage after those ambitious comments, it would delight a number of Toon fans.
