Footage from TNT Sports has shown Bruno Guimaraes limping out of Brazil’s World Cup training session, handing Newcastle United a potentially huge injury worry.

Guimaraes was one of the fortunate players to have been selected by his national side to go to the World Cup, and while he may not be a starter given he’s only done so twice so far in his career, it will have been a major honour and a reward for his Newcastle form.

The Magpies ace has been instrumental to the club’s charge up the league, featuring in all but three games since joining the club – while he has recently been hailed as ‘magnificent‘ by Newcastle legend Alan Shearer.

It was reportedly a challenge by fellow Premier League ace Fabinho that left Guimaraes limping and forced him out of the training session, which could be terrible news for Howe and Newcastle as his availability for Brazil’s first World Cup game is now in doubt.

TIF Thoughts on Guimaraes’ injury…

While this footage does indeed show Guimaraes returning back to the pitch after getting some medical attention, he did in fact have his foot strapped up, showing that he may require further medical assistance before the World Cup kicks off.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Howe may be worried his star man could miss this winter’s tournament, but his bigger concern will likely be how he is when he returns to Tyneside later in December, and judging by this footage, he certainly won’t be taking things lightly in Qatar.

It’s also a testament to Guimaraes and the type of person he is that he simply returned back to training just seconds after being seen to by the Brazilian medical team, as he just wants to play football and give his all for whatever team he’s playing for.
