Newcastle United will not sign ex-Manchester United man, Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel.

Spanish outlet Marca, reported that Ronaldo was torn between two clubs, Newcastle and Al-Nassr FC in Saudi Arabia.

However, Romano has been ‘told’ that a move for the Portuguese international to Tyneside will not happen.

Ronaldo recently left Man United by mutual consent. This was after the 37-year-old gave a controversial interview with journalist, Piers Morgan.

Newcastle spent a lot of cash last summer to bolster their squad. However, when you look at the recruitment, a player like Ronaldo wouldn’t be the type of player that manager Eddie Howe, would sign.

Here’s what Romano had to say on the Ronaldo links to the Magpies, “We know there is a player like Ronaldo on the market. Everything can in change five seconds or Ronaldo is a free agent so you can change your mind on a player like this, but I’m told Newcastle are not working to sign Cristiano Ronaldo at the moment”.

TIF’s view on Romano’s comments…

We believe that Newcastle are right to not look into signing Ronaldo. There’s no doubt he is an all-time great, but the backlash from the interview wouldn’t fit the mould of the club.

The Magpies have endured a fantastic start to the Premier League this season. They’re 3rd in the league only behind Arsenal and Manchester City.

As a whole, the squad has performed extremely well. Across the 2022/23 season, their players have been very consistent. With the likes of Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes and Miguel Almiron catching the eye in particular.

As for Ronaldo, it’s still early days. He’s got Portugal’s World Cup campaign to focus on. A world-class display from the attacker could see clubs have an interest in him when the January transfer window begins.
