Manchester United will sell right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka before they begin searching for a replacement.

That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who spoke about the likelihood of the club signing a new right-back in January on The United Stand YouTube channel.

The English defender has only played one game across all competitions this season, suggesting that he’s not in the plans of manager Erik ten Hag, with Diego Dalot featuring consistently in that area.

Romano has stated the Red Devils boss wants to sign a new right-back. However, he wants the 24-year-old sold before he makes any purchases in that position.

He said: “We know that they are looking for a right-back.

“First point is to find a solution for Wan-Bissaka, to sell Wan-Bissaka and then to try to bring in a right-back.

“Erik ten Hag wanted Sergino Dest in the final days of the market on loan from Barcelona, but now, of course, he joined AC Milan, so he’s not going anywhere in January.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

We believe that selling Wan-Bissaka would be the right move from Manchester United. He’s hardly playing this season and could be getting minutes at another club.

It simply hasn’t worked out for the Englishman. He joined from Crystal Palace back in 2019 and was a constant starter. However, his appearances have decreased over time.

Therefore, it’s in the interest of both parties to arrange a transfer. The player would get a chance to kickstart his career elsewhere and Man United would get a fee for someone they no longer need.

It’s likely they won’t make a profit, but some money is better than no money.
