Journalist Pete O’Rourke has suggested that Mateusz Klich could seek a move away from Leeds United when the market reopens.

The midfielder has played just 188 minutes of Premier League football so far this season and has become somewhat surplus to requirements under Jesse Marsch.

Klich missed out on the Poland squad for the current World Cup in Qatar as a result of his struggles at club level.

Leeds brought Marc Roca, Tyler Adams and the more attack-minded Brenden Aaronson to the club in the summer and led to speculation in his homeland that the 32-year-old was ‘determined’ to leave Yorkshire and O’Rourke feels that could come to fruition this winter.

Speaking to This is Futbol he said:

“He’s not really getting much of a look in the Leeds United team under Jesse Marsch right now so I think Mateusz Klich may be the time is up for him at Elland Road.

“Obviously played a huge part in the side under Marcelo Bielsa helping them win promotion to the Premier League and helping keep Leeds there as well.

“But obviously Leeds did bring in three new midfielders in the summer transfer window and it’s sort of seen Klich pushed down the pecking order at Elland Road and that ultimately missed out in the Poland squad for the World Cup because he wasn’t playing regularly for Leeds either.

“So I think if Klich is in search of regular first-team football he might have to consider a move away from Leeds.”

Do you think Klich should be sold?

The 41-cap Pole was involved in 11 goals as he played in all but one of the Whites’ Championship fixtures during their title-winning campaign in January.

He then scored four times and provided five assists as the west Yorkshire club enjoyed a fine return to the top flight on their first season back.

However, his role in the squad has since faded and with a year-and-a-half left on his contract a move away this January could be best for all parties.
