Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra’s foot injury hasn’t progressed as hoped, with the Colombian potentially facing six weeks out.
That is according to injury expert Ben Dinnery, who was speaking on Thursday’s instalment of FPL injuries ahead of this weekend’s Premier League fixtures.
Sinisterra missed Leeds’ 2-1 victory at Liverpool last weekend due to a foot injury, after sustaining the problem in the Whites’ 3-2 defeat at home to Fulham the previous week.
Whites head coach Jesse Marsch has suggested that the 23-year-old could be out until after the World Cup after the American manager suggested the injury was “more than what we thought it was.”
And Dinnery has suggested that the injury could keep Sinisterra, who has been described as “tremendous” by journalist Juan Arango, on the sidelines for another six weeks.
“He hasn’t progressed as hoped,” Dinnery told FPL injuries (09:49).
“There were concerns so they sent him for another scan, and he also met with a specialist.
“Now, those assessments and evaluations have revealed a problem with his mid foot, specifically in and around what they call the Lisfranc complex, which is where the metatarsals are held by a very strong ligament.
“Now in terms of the severity of this injury, Jesse Marsch is hopeful or optimistic that there isn’t a full rupture within that, he thinks that it may just be a partial tear.
“That would be good news if it is, because if it’s a partial tear the chances are that it will be treated conservatively, if those bones are non-displaced.
“Now, what it means is we’re probably looking for somewhere between maybe four, possibly even six weeks on the sidelines, but that coincides with the break we should see him hopefully, all being well, around that festive period.
“But what I would stress is he does have another specialist appointment on Thursday and the club will have more details with regards to the severity of that injury, but certainly out of the next three games in the first instance.”

We believe that Sinisterra’s injury will come as a huge blow to both Marsch and Leeds fans, with the wide man being unable to compete in a massive crunch game against fellow relegation candidates Bournemouth this weekend, before a trip to Tottenham Hotspur the following weekend.
The seven-time Colombia international has made just ten appearances for the Whites so far this season, but has managed to provide three goals and one assist according to Transfermarkt, suggesting that the wide man is an effective presence for Marsch’s side’s attacking output.
Therefore, we think that Sinisterra’s absence is a huge set-back for Leeds ahead of a critical run of fixtures which could determine the outcome of both the club’s and Marsch’s Premier League future.
