Image for Leeds United: Dean Jones drops opinion on potential takeover

It could potentially be a very exciting time for Leeds United with 49ers enterprises expected to complete a full takeover of the club in the near future.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest developments at Elland Road.

It had been reported last week by multiple sources that 49ers Enterprises were gearing up to secure the funding to buy out current majority shareholder Andrea Radrizzani.

The same reports say that option to buy the club does not come into force until January 2024, but it is believed that the potential buyers could look to move on the club at the end of the season.

And Jones believes that if the club can get through this season and remain in the Premier League, it could be a very exciting time for supporters of the Yorkshire side.

“We always knew that by now things should be clicking into gear for that to start to happen [full takeover], but that Leeds would have their eye on next season, being able to implement some of these changes.

“So, it could be a really exciting time for Leeds if they can get through this tricky stage.”

First up, which of these World Cup debutants could Leeds go back in for this winter?

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We believe that a full takeover from 49ers Enterprises (who have NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers in their repertoire of sporting organisations) would provide a hugely exciting time ahead for Leeds fans, with the franchise having a value of over £4.3bn in 2022.

Fans of the Elland Road club would no doubt look to the success that Newcastle United have had in the 12 months since the Saudi Public Investment Fund took ownership of the club, with the Magpies currently sitting third in the Premier League, having spent over £100m in the summer transfer window.

Therefore, we think that Jesse Marsch will be desperate to provide the club with Premier League survival this season, in order for a bright future to hang over the club this summer.
