Leeds United may have been let off with another potential red card in their game at the weekend.

Footage has been posted to Twitter sharing a challenge from Marc Roca on Eric Dier on Saturday afternoon.

Jesse Marsch’s men left N17 empty-handed despite taking the lead three times, and to rub salt into their wounds, they saw Tyler Adams handed a one-game suspension after picking up two yellow cards.

First up, which of these World Cup debutants could Leeds go back in for this winter?

And it seems they may have been slightly fortunate not to have already been down to 10 men before Adams’ dismissal, with Roca only given a yellow for his challenge on the Tottenham Hotspur defender.

The midfielder’s challenge was certainly high as it caught Dier around the knee area and left the England centre-back in a heap on the floor.

TIF Thoughts on the footage…

We think there is a solid case to be made for Roca being dismissed for this challenge, with his boot clearly high and landing on Dier’s leg with the studs showing.

Should this have been a red card?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, perhaps the deciding factor was that the referee may have noticed Roca did not take his eyes off the ball as it looped up in the air, so his intent does seem to be on winning the ball.

But if this was against your team, you would be wanting to see the red card shown, as Dier was put at risk – and had the referee shown a straight red, we do not think this is one VAR would be stepping in to change.
