Journalist Beren Cross has backed in-form Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville to maintain his starting role in the Carabao Cup.

An unlikely hero in the form of Summerville had emerged recently, with the Dutchman able to help turn around Leeds’ poor run of form, scoring winning goals in each of the last two Premier League games.

Summerville, who’d not started a Premier League game before the start of this season, has now proved himself to be an exciting and able member of the squad under Jesse Marsch, and Cross believes he should start once again this evening against Wolves, despite it being a cup game.

The journalist has urged Marsch to not drop the Dutchman in the Carabao Cup due to his fine recent form.

He tweeted: “It’s been a long wait (send your guesses in) for a Leeds United player to score in four consecutive games, but Summerville has that chance tonight. Would back him to start among the myriad changes, and full debuts, Marsch could make tonight.”

TIF Thoughts on Summerville’s form…

It has been a sensational turnaround from Summerville who appears to have pretty much saved his Leeds career in the last month or so, having gone from a fringe player looking to leave on loan in January, to now arguably one of the first names on the teamsheet based on current form.

Summerville has scored three goals this season despite starting just three games in the league, and given how young he is and the fact he’s not started many games, there appears little doubt he should be in the starting lineup this evening, especially if his recent performances are anything to go by, which have seen him be labelled as ‘incredible‘ by BBC man Nedum Onuoha.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Leeds will likely fancy themselves this evening as they face a Wolves side who’ve only scored eight goals across all competitions this season and sit inside the bottom three, so will likely be focusing on their league fixture at the weekend, and could come up against a much-changed lineup.
