Presenter Conor McGilligan has said that Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville must improve his ‘decision-making’ if he is to truly establish himself in the team.

The 21-year-old stole the headlines over the weekend for the Whites as he netted a last-gasp winner at Anfield in his club’s 2-1 away win on Saturday night.

The match was only Summerville’s second Premier League start of his career and he would have no doubt been delighted to have made such a big impact on proceedings – ending Virgil van Dijk’s unbeaten record at home for the Reds on his 70th match.

Despite all the positivity, McGilligan has warned that this one goal doesn’t suddenly mean Summerville is a ‘world-class player’ and explained that he still needs to develop.

While speaking about his past doubts over the player’s quality, the YouTuber told the One Leeds Fan Channel: “If he can prove me wrong, that’s amazing. That is amazing. I thought he was good [on Saturday]. I don’t think he was amazing, but I thought it was good last night. He was okay against Fulham as well.

“Still there are areas of his game which I’m not convinced on. The decision-making, obviously was great last night, but still you saw little bits of it last night where the decision-making has got to evolve with him. And that will make him into a Premier League player.

“But just because he scored a goal doesn’t mean that suddenly he’s a world-class player.”

TIF Thoughts on Crysencio Summerville and Leeds…

The winger did actually score for Leeds the week prior in the defeat against Fulham, so he might well be about to find some real form for the first time as a senior member of the team.

Indeed, that goal was only the first of his career for the club, while he is yet to register an assist for the first team in 18 appearances. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why some may feel as though Summerville has a way to go yet before being considered the real deal.

Still, at youth level he has shown plenty of promise, scoring 14 and providing a further 11 assists in 30 outings for the U21s. And now, at 21 years of age, he finally may be set to soon explode onto the scene as a star.
