Journalist Beren Cross has reported that Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is ‘unlikely to sign a new deal’, leaving his future up in the air.
As the January transfer market approaches, much focus for the Whites will no doubt be on players they can potentially bring in to help them improve in the second half of the Premier League season.
For instance, Leeds have recently been linked with a winter move for a number of left-backs, with Valencia defender Jesus Vasquez being named as a key target.
However, some players could be on their way out, too. Indeed, in a recent article for LeedsLive, Cross explained that Klich is not likely to sign a new deal and could therefore be gone in the near future.
He explained: “Mateusz Klich, another of the senior pros who arrived in the EFL days, seems unlikely to sign a new deal at this stage.
“Given how close he came to leaving in the summer transfer window and which way his playing time is surely set to go, Klich’s future is very much up in the air across the coming transfer windows.”
TIF Thoughts on Mateusz Klich and Leeds…
As per Transfermarkt, the midfielder’s current deal does not expire until 2024, so it’s not as if the club need to hand him an extension immediately if they do want him to stay.
However, seeing as he has failed to start a single Premier League game this season, it’s safe to say he’s not exactly in manager Jesse Marsch’s plans right now.
Presumably due to this lack of game time, Klich was not called up to the Poland squad for the 2022 World Cup and this probably would have left him feeling rather upset. Indeed, insider Graeme Bailey claimed that Klich would have been so annoyed that he may now be seeking a January exit.
Taking it all into account, it does look as though the player’s long-term future lies away from Leeds and he could well be off this winter.
What surprising and shocking news ! I think I’ve only read this about a hundred times already. Do people actually get paid for this !
