Presenter Conor McGilligan has claimed that he would not be surprised if Leeds United were to sign Noa Lang amid recent transfer links.
According to a recent report in GiveMeSport, the Whites likely ‘be in the race’ for the Club Brugge winger this winter when the January transfer market reopens.
Of course, Leeds seemed very keen on signing Lang during the summer with the 23-year-old even telling Dutch media (via LeedsLive) that the Premier League club made three offers and even ‘flew to the Netherlands’ to negotiate a deal.
Evidently, no deal ever came to pass but with that concrete interest existing beforehand, and now amid this most recent transfer talk, McGilligan has claimed that a deal could well be on the cards.
Indeed, while speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, he said (4:10): “Another option in attack, which I’ve seen over the last couple of days, we have to discuss, is Noa Lang who currently turns up for Club Brugge – obviously like we know.
“Apparently Leeds are going to be in the race for the forward. Now, this wouldn’t surprise me. It wouldn’t.”
TIF Thoughts on Noa Lang and Leeds United…
Able to operate either down the middle or on the wing, Lang certainly could bring a new attacking dimension to the Leeds United side. The Dutchman has scored four goals and made three assists in total this term, though his season has been partly disrupted by an ankle injury (via Transfermarkt).
The forward did enough, though, to earn a spot in his nation’s World Cup squad in Qatar but was left on the bench during the 2-0 win over Senegal in Netherland’s opening fixture.
If Leeds really are interested in signing Lang, however, they may prefer him to go largely unused at the tournament as his transfer valuation could rise dramatically if he puts in any good performances.
This certainly looks like one rumour to keep an eye on.
