Leeds United have been linked with Valencia left-back Jesus Vazquez on a loan move. A new player in that position could look to move Pascal Struijk to the centre-back position.

That’s according to Conor McGilligan on the One Leeds Fan Channel on YouTube where he discussed the Whites’ ambition in the January market.

Reports in Spain (via LeedsLive) claim Jesse Marsch has the Spanish left-back, Vazquez, noted as a player of interest ahead of the January window.

And these reports have the Leeds presenter as it could possibly mean the club would look to move Struijk into the centre-back position, his preferred area on the pitch.

Vazquez, the target in question is still just 19-years-old and reports claim the potential move would likely be a loan, due to his high release clause.

“Apparently Leeds are set to be in the market for a left-back because they want to be actively playing Pascal Struijk, according to several sources, at centre-back. Which is good that the club have recognised that and hopefully, that’s exactly where we’re looking at.”

“I think a loan move would be a wise option to be quite honest with you.”

TIF’s view on McGilligan’s comments…

We believe that Vazquez would be a much-needed arrival in January. Leeds are lacking in quality left-backs currently, so the 19-year-old could likely break into the first team.

Furthermore, he already has experience playing against some top opposition. Vazquez has already played against the likes of Barcelona in one of his four appearances this season with Valencia.

Additionally, having Struijk available at centre-back could be a big boost for Leeds. He averages around 3.2 tackles per game according to Sofascore, a stat that is key for that position.

He’s featured 13 times in the Premier League under Marsch. Conveying that the Leeds boss clearly backs him and has him in his plans.

The arrival of Vazquez could help Marsch shape the way he wants to play with Leeds going forward. They land a new left-back and play Struijk in his preferred position, which benefits all parties.
