Leeds United: Conor McGilligan left furious by awful Whites defending

|

YouTuber Conor McGilligan has slammed Leeds United for the defensive errors that have seen them concede goals as a result of their players not marking their men.

The Whites presenter has been speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel to discuss the West Yorkshire club’s season so far following their most recent defeat in the Premier League.

Jesse Marsch’s men were heading for three huge points last weekend as they went into the final 10 minutes of their match against Tottenham Hotspur with a 3-2 lead.

First up, which of these World Cup debutants could Leeds go back in for this winter?

However, Spurs midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur twice found himself unmarked in the Leeds box in the remaining minutes as he provided the Lilywhites with two goals to seal the points.

And as the result saw Leeds sink down to 15th spot in the Premier League table, McGilligan aired his frustrations with the errors causing Leeds to squander such an advantage.

He said: “It triggered me a little bit when Phil Billing scored that goal against us for Bournemouth. There always seems to be an oncoming midfielder running into Leeds’ box when an opposition team gets to the byline – have you noticed that, unmarked? It seems to happen consistently.”

TIF Thoughts on McGilligan’s comments…

It is not surprising to hear McGilligan’s annoyance when they came so close to such a big result at a ground where away wins have been so hard to come by this season.

Do Leeds need new defenders?

Three points would have seen Marsch’s men remain in 12th spot of the Premier League table, and yet they now find themselves back among the relegation candidates.

And given they remain slumped near the bottom of the table, it will only be natural that there is frustration among the fans when they have conceded goals that could have been avoided like the ones on Saturday.
