Phil Hay has claimed that Jesse Marsch looked ‘visibly exhausted’ after Leeds United’s win on Saturday night.

In what was one of the most remarkable victories this season, Leeds managed to go to Anfield and pick up a memorable three points, despite having previously been on an eight-game winless run in the league.

Marsch pulled out what will likely be a rather memorable celebration when Crysencio Summerville scored the late winner for Leeds, but despite not being over-exuberant, he was still seemingly exhausted post-match.

Hay has noted on The Phil Hay Show how the American manager was clearly exhausted after what was a huge win for Leeds during his press conference.

He said: “At full-time, I was watching him, and he was really, really subdued. I think he made a conscious effort not to make it about him, not to make himself front and centre, to keep it all quite low-key.

“He looked pretty visibly exhausted, actually, at the press conference afterwards. I can imagine he was feeling pretty emotionally spent.”

TIF Thoughts on Jesse Marsch…

It has been a turbulent few weeks for Marsch having not seen his team win a league game since the end of August would have likely been the most relieved man inside Anfield when the full-time whistle went and his side had leapt out of the bottom three.

There had been growing concerns among fans and the media that Marsch and Leeds were not going to work and that he had to be relieved of his duties, but this win will certainly give him more time and potential leeway with supporters.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

While the victory against Liverpool will be a memorable one and a huge night for Leeds and their fans, if they can’t back it up against fellow relegation candidates Bournemouth this weekend, then it will seem like a rather fruitless display and win given they once again, will have failed to beat a team in and around them.
