Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson has praised Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou amidst rumours that he could be set to replace Frank Lampard at Everton.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former England International claimed that Premier League clubs should be looking at the Australian, with Celtic currently nine points clear at the top of the league.

“I cannot understand why one of the Premier League clubs has not moved heaven and earth to get him. There has been a few jobs come up in the Premier League of late but he doesn’t appear to have been in the running,” Robinson stated.

“The job that he has done at Celtic has been nothing short of incredible. People forget how far behind Rangers they were when he came in. They lost the league that year by a fair margin.

“Look at the players that he has brought in. A lot of people have never heard of them but they have nearly all. been successes.

“I cannot for the life of me understand why a Premier League club has not made a serious move for him. The next step for successful managers of Celtic and Rangers is a Premier League club.”

TIF thoughts on Postecoglou…

With Celtic thriving at the top of the league, and Postecoglou’s signings impressing in particular, he has shown that he is capable of turning a club’s fortunes around, having arrived after Rangers won the league undefeated.

Everton will certainly keep a close eye on the 57-year-old, amidst long-standing rumours that Frank Lampard may be dismissed and the Australian is top of their list to replace him.

Whether Ange jumps at the chance to manage in the Premier League or stays loyal to Celtic remains to be seen, but should Lampard be dismissed, he would be an excellent candidate to help turn around a steady slide at Goodison Park in recent years.
