Journalist Dean Jones has praised Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for his ‘unbelievable’ communication skills during matches.

Up to this stage in the Premier League season, the Toffees have shown some promising signs of improvement and enter November sitting 12th in the league on 14 points.

While they’ve not been perfect, their No 1 has certainly stood out on a number of occasions. For instance, according to SofaScore, he has earned an impressive average match rating of 7.35 in the league up until their weekend clash with Leicester City.

While speaking about Pickford on the Chasing Green Arrows podcast, Jones was full of praise for the Everton goalkeeper and highlighted one skill in particular.

Indeed, he said: “I do like Pickford. I mean, he’s having an unbelievable season and he does make saves – a lot of time he has to because of the amount of chances the other team are getting.

“I went to the Fulham-Everton game – he’s unbelievable, Pickford was in that game. I was behind the goal – and I really kept a close eye on Pickford.

“A lot of England fans, even, are still never convinced that Jordan Pickford should be the England No 1. His communication is unbelievable. That bloke does not shut up.”

TIF thoughts on Jordan Pickford and Everton…

In that game against Fulham, Pickford was arguably the star of the show. He picked up a SofaScore rating of 8.6, making six saves, one punch, one key pass, four clearances and keeping a clean sheet to earn his side a point.

And while some England fans might not be convinced, it seems as though Gareth Southgate is. Indeed, the goalkeeper is undeniably the Three Lions’ first-choice option at present.

Despite missing some recent matches due to a thigh injury, it would be a big shock if he wasn’t starting for his nation at the World Cup amid this great club form – on top of the fact that he played every minute at Euro 2020 when England lost on penalties (via Transfermarkt).
