Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Everton could have the chance to try and sign Mohammed Kudus in the January transfer market.

With the World Cup now taking place, a number of players will be hoping to catch the eye with impressive performances for their country. The Ghanaian is no exception.

Indeed, in a recent interview with The Guardian, Kudus was quoted as saying Neymar isn’t better than him, ‘just a higher profile player, that’s all’. Clearly, the Ajax star doesn’t lack for confidence and it seems as though he won’t be lacking for potential suitors in upcoming transfer markets too.

Indeed, while speaking on the CBS podcast House of Champions, Romano explained that a number of Premier League, including Everton, will be interested in signing the player in the summer or possibly even the winter.

He said (12:13): “I think next summer, or maybe January, let’s see. But next summer could be the right moment for him to go, to have an opportunity in the Premier League.

“As I mentioned, Everton have always been interested in signing him, but I’m sure other clubs in the Premier League will be interested in Kudus. He’s a very good player.”

Interestingly enough, it has been reported that Ajax rejected a £15m-plus bid from Everton during the summer as they had already sold key player Antony for a much higher transfer fee (via The Independent).

Clearly, the Toffees have held a genuine interest in Kudus in the past, so it wouldn’t be a shock if they went back in for the player this January – especially with Romano reporting that he could now have the chance to leave.

Still only 22 years of age, the Ghanaian has impressed at club level this season massively, scoring ten goals and providing two assists in 21 games across all competitions.

Having also picked up an assist at the World Cup, Kudus could be set to soon announce himself on the global stage.  If he does, though, Everton may find it even tricker to land him this winter.
