Everton youngster Lewis Dobbin recently scored a stunning goal in the FA Cup, reminding Frank Lampard what he’s missing by not having him in the first team.

The Toffees have certainly found things difficult this season at both ends of the pitch, having shipped seven goals in their last two games and only managing to score 11 times in the Premier League.

Therefore, seeing young striker Dobbin – on loan at League One side Derby County – fire a stunning strike into the roof of the net during their FA Cup clash will perhaps have made some rue the decision to let him leave for the season.

It was indeed just his first goal of the season for Derby, but the footage of his strike is certainly a reminder of the talent he possesses.

TIF Thoughts on Lewis Dobbin…

While Dobbin wouldn’t likely be the answer to Everton’s woes in the final third with only six goal involvements to his name, it does indeed show the talent that he possesses and how he could have perhaps at least done a job while gaining valuable first-team experience at the top level.

At just 19, he wouldn’t likely be ready to start every week for the Toffees, but he would surely be a decent option to come off the bench for Everton, especially when Lampard looks at the poor form from the likes of Dwight McNeil and Anthony Gordon.

If Dobbin can enjoy a successful November and December, it may well force Everton and Lampard into having a rethink over his future and try to recall him from his loan deal in order to help bolster their attacking options.
