Andros Townsend has sent Everton and Frank Lampard a potentially major injury boost after posting a cryptic message on Instagram.

Townsend has not been seen in an Everton shirt since March 20th when he played 14 minutes in the FA Cup last season which has hampered the Toffees and the creativity that they have from out wide.

The England international was signed as a free agent last summer under Rafael Benitez and ended up registering seven goals and four assists in a very poor Everton side given their lack of goals this season, just 11 in the entire squad, a potential return would be massive.

The former England international has sent a cryptic message of him in an Everton shirt with the caption of how many days he’s been out injured, accompanied by a sand timer.

When fit, should Townsend start for Everton?

TIF Thoughts on Townsend…

Townsend is now 31 years old and not a spring chicken anymore, so if Everton are indeed pinning their hopes on him to help them avoid the drop and start becoming more of a threat in the final third, that could be wishful thinking.

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

However, given how long club football is set to be cut off for during the World Cup, if Townsend can get himself back fit over the winter then it could indeed save Everton a lot of money in the transfer market.

The winger wouldn’t likely come into the squad and be an instant starter for Everton, however, he would indeed provide good depth and options for Lampard which would be huge given the lack of form from someone such as Anthony Gordon.
