Everton manager Frank Lampard could look to bring in one attacker in the upcoming January transfer window.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from Goodison Park.

Everton have endured a mixed start to the Premier League campaign, having earned 14 points from 14 matches, which currently places them in 15th in the league table following this evening’s defeat to Leicester City.

However, goalscoring has been a problem for Lampard’s side, with the team only scoring 12 goals in the league so far this season, ranking them as the joint third-lowest scoring side in the division.

And Jones thinks that the former Chelsea manager will look to bring in an attacking reinforcement this January in a bid to improve the Toffees’ goalscoring record.

Speaking prior to Everton’s latest defeat, he said: “First and foremost, he just wanted to make sure that Everton weren’t going to be relegated this season – that’s probably still his first priority, to be honest.

“But beyond that, you’re starting to see a side that’s settled.

“I think he will look to sign one attacker in January.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, the Toffees are monitoring the situation regarding Chelsea striker Armando Broja in case a potential loan deal becomes available in the winter transfer window.

Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers and Chile striker Ben Brereton Diaz has been linked with a move to Goodison Park persistently since the summer transfer window, but it is now reported that the forward could stay at Ewood Park until the end of his contract this summer.

There are plenty of options out there for Everton and Lampard to explore in terms of forward additions this winter, but we believe that the club should look to back their head coach in the transfer market regardless in order to preserve the side’s Premier League status.
