Everton’s Jordan Pickford could look for a move away from Goodison Park at the end of the season.

That is the opinion of TalkSport pundit Darren Bent, who was giving his thoughts on the goalkeeper’s future at Goodison Park.

Pickford joined Everton in the summer of 2017 for a then club-record fee of £30m.

It was during his debut season on Merseyside that the Washington-born goalkeeper made his England debut, in a 0-0 friendly with Germany in November 2017.

However, having finished no higher than 8th during his time at Everton and coming close to relegation last season, Bent feels that Pickford may be looking to move onto pastures new at the end of the campaign.

Discussing which Three Lions players could be looking to leave their current clubs, he said: “Depending on what happens at the end of the season with Everton, if they go down, I think he might be looking for [a move], he might be looking for a move anyway.

“Because I’m pretty sure as an England no.1, the last couple of seasons [they’ve been] there or thereabouts when it comes to fighting relegation – he doesn’t want that.”

TIF Thoughts on Bent’s comments…

Whilst we don’t think that Pickford will be itching to get away from the club that enabled him to become England’s first-choice goalkeeper, we think he may feel that he should be participating in European competition rather than relegation battles.

One club we could potentially see the 28-year-old moving to could be Tottenham Hotspur if the north Londoners feel that now is the time to find a replacement for 35-year-old shot-stopper Hugo Lloris.

With Everton currently sitting one point above the Premier League relegation zone, Pickford may now feel that he needs to leave Goodison Park in order to play European football before he turns 30, so we can see a situation where the goalkeeper departs at the end of the season.
