Fabrizio Romano has stated on his YouTube channel that Chelsea have ‘sent their scouts’ to watch Atletico Madrid star, Joao Felix.

In the video Romano said that Felix is waiting to see which clubs will look to bid in a bid of over €130 million for his services.

A report from A Bola, has reported that the Portuguese star has lost patience with manager Diego Simeone.

Felix is currently at the World Cup with Portugal. He netted the European sides’ second goal against Ghana in their World Cup opener, the score finished 3-2 to Portugal.

Romano spoke about which clubs from England were interested in the player, he said, “He is trying to understand which club can make a really important bid more than 130 million for Joao Felix and trying to find a solution.
“Let’s see what happens especially with English clubs Manchester United were asking of Joao Felix in the summer but then they don’t make a bid because for Atletico he was untouchable. We also know that Chelsea have sent their scouts multiple times to follow Joao Felix.”

TIF’s view on Romano’s comments…

We believe that Chelsea should approach Felix, who has a £305m release clause, with real caution. He typically plays as a second striker for Atletico and has 24 goals across four La Liga seasons.

An out-and-out goal scorer is what Chelsea really need this season. When you look across their squad, they don’t have that, based off this campaign. Raheem Sterling is their top scorer with five goals for the Blues.

There have been ongoing talks with RB Leipzig attacker, Christopher Nkunku. Journalist Ben Jacobs claims the two clubs have a ‘broad club-to-club agreement’ for the player.

The Frenchman looks more like what Chelsea needs when it comes to bringing in a player who can score goals. In the Bundesliga this season, he has a whopping 12 goals in 15 games.

Whether the Blues’ scouts are watching Felix at the World Cup or if they’ve taken a look at him whilst he’s been playing in Spain, we’re not sure, but what we do know is the club desperately need a goal scorer.
