GOAL’s Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts has encouraged the Gunners to increase their options in wide areas this January.

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have both been in red-hot form for the league leaders this season, combining for 10 goals and 8 assists in all competitions.

However, beyond the talented duo, Mikel Arteta is short of solid options, with only the likes of the rejuvenated Reiss Nelson and Brazilian youngster Marquinhos available to call upon.

Now with the position that the north London club find themselves in, Watts has urged the club to sign another alternative in that particular area of need.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said:

“I think you’ve got to look at strengthening out wide for us and I think it’s absolutely crying out for another addition to the wide areas, whether it be a left-wing or a right-wing as someone who can play both, I think they need to do that.”

Would you want Arsenal to break the bank for Mykhailo Mudryk?

Marquinhos has yet to be used in the Premier League this season while Nelson’s only appearance saw him score two goals and another winger could well be the key for the Gunners to push all the way for the title.

Of course, Mykhaylo Mudryk is the name that the club have been most heavily linked with in that particular field and he would be a major addition.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has recently revealed that Shakhtar Donetsk would want between £60-65m for his signature.

But that shouldn’t put the Emirates Stadium outfit off considering the 22-year-old has been involved in 15 goals this season including scoring three and setting up two in the UEFA Champions League.

With Newcastle also targeting the man dubbed the ‘Ukranian Messi’ it would be perhaps advised that Arsenal think about bringing him in January.
