According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, Youri Tielemans is committed to a move to Arsenal – and the Gunners may wait until the summer to bring him in as a result.

A report from claims that Arsenal are long-term admirers of the midfielder and that he matches the area that Mikel Arteta is trying to bolster in the January market.

The same source suggests that personal terms have been agreed between both parties and that the north London club are willing to wait until the end of the season to complete a deal.

With Tielemans out of contract in June, he could be available on a free, but the Daily Mail has claimed that Leicester City are still working with the player’s representatives and are confident of tying the Belgian maestro to fresh terms at the King Power Stadium.

In a recent update, Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “With Tielemans, the challenge is that Leicester will still hold out – especially if he has a good World Cup – for some money, even though that money will be slightly less than over last summer. Arsenal know that because they’ve got buy-in from Tielemans – if they just wait, bide their time and don’t do anything in January, they can potentially come back in the summer.

“If they choose to do that, they’ll get the player on a free, providing he does not sign a new contract with Leicester – and all indications are that he’s not going to sign a new deal.”

Should Arsenal sign Tielemans?

With Tielemans described as a top, top-class player” by Pep Guardiola, Arteta will be keen to add the 57-cap Belgium ace to their ranks.

An update from Fabrizio Romano claiming that finding a new club is still the 25-year-old’s preference will ease their potential concerns over having to pay a hefty fee should they wait until the end of the season.

With 135 Premier League appearances to his name, Tielemans could yet slot into the Arsenal engine room rather quickly and would undoubtedly provide the Spanish coach with another terrific option in his Gunners midfield.
