Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that he always thought Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane would ‘go to a club like Real Madrid’, according to Suddeutsche Zeitung (via Madrid Xtra).

Both Pochettino and Kane worked together for many years at Spurs, with the striker still playing at the club. As for the Argentine, he’s currently without a club.

There’s no doubt that Kane is a world-class striker, his goal stats for Tottenham speak for themselves. In addition, he’s England’s captain, so it’s no surprise that he was called up by Gareth Southgate for the World Cup.

Real Madrid have had a number of world-class strikers and goal scorers in their sides over the years. So you could see why someone like Kane would potentially to consider going there.

Pochettino told the German outlet: “I always saw Harry Kane as a player who would go to a club like Real Madrid if he ever left England.”

TIF’s view on Pochettino’s comments…

We can see why the former Spurs manager could see Kane at Real Madrid, as previously mentioned, he’s world-class. However, these comments are purely his opinion.

They may have worked together previously, but it’s unlikely the Argentine knows about what Kane’s thoughts are on his future and or a potential move away from north London.

Kane would be a high-profile signing if he joined Los Blancos. However, Karim Benzema has been on fire for Madrid. Having played as a sole striker at the Bernabeu for years, it is hard to imagine Benazema welcoming the competition Kane could provide.

Perhaps in the future, but if anything it seems that Kane heading to Bayern Munich is more of a possibility. So if Real Madrid were to go in and sign the England captain, there’d be competition for his services.
