According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are planning talks with winger Ousmane Dembele in the hope to agree to a new deal.

Dembele’s future has been a topic of discussion for a while now, with Xavi handing the winger an ultimatum almost a year ago over the failure to extend his deal.

The Frenchman has certainly been involved in the creative output of Barca’s goals this season. Dembele has four goals and five assists to his name in La Liga so far.

In addition, he grabbed a goal and two assists in the Champions League for the Catalan giants. He’s continued his creative spree from last season, when he picked up 13 assists in the league.

TIF Thoughts on a potential new deal for Dembele…

We believe that Barcelona should definitely look to lock down a new deal for Dembele as he’s clearly a source of creativity for Xavi’s side.

With the way he’s performing, it would come as no surprise if plenty of clubs around Europe were interested in signing him.

A new deal for Dembele would mean that in the worst-case scenario, Barca could get a large fee from any sale and find a new replacement for him.

Barcelona currently sit top of La Liga and losing Dembele would certainly be a big risk as they look to secure their first league title in four years.
