Tottenham Hotspur youngster Bryan Gil has praised Rodrigo Bentancur after the midfielder netted a last-gasp winner in the club’s most recent game.

Spurs looked to be in all sorts of trouble on the weekend against Bournemouth after Kieffer Moore scored twice to put his team seemingly out of sight.

However, efforts from Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies put Tottenham back on level terms before Bentancur then popped up with a 92nd-minute winner to hand his team a stunning 3-2 comeback victory.

Following this vital Premier League win, Gil took to social media to praise his teammate, dubbing the Uruguayan an ‘animal’ on his Instagram story.

TIF thoughts on Bryan Gil, Rodrigo Bentancur and Spurs…

It seems as though Gil wasn’t the only one to appreciate the efforts of Bentancur. In Dan Kilpatrick’s player ratings for the Evening Standard he handed the midfielder an 8/10 for his efforts, claiming that he ‘turned the game’ and passed the question, is the former Juventus man ‘undroppable’?

Bentancur has become a real key figure in Antonio Conte’s Spurs XI and played a big role in Wednesday’s Champions League draw after scoring the goal to earn the Lilywhites a point against Sporting CP.

Gil too was praised for his cameo off the bench in the same player ratings. Indeed, the journalist praised the Spaniard for ‘another lively’ appearance.

While Bentancur is a regular in the Spurs set-up – having played in 17 games already this season – Gil has found it harder to get regular minutes. Still, he has now featured in back-to-back games for the first time this term, so he could finally be earning Antonio Conte’s trust.

For now, though, the real praise has rightfully been reserved for his ‘animal’ teammate.
