Leeds United were unlucky not to take anything from their game on Sunday but Paul Merson has been left worried for the Yorkshire side.

The Sky Sports pundit has been providing his predictions ahead of the next Premier League fixtures in his latest Sportskeeda column.

Jesse Marsch’s men left Elland Road on Sunday without anything to show for their efforts against Arsenal after Patrick Bamford failed to score from the spot.

This has left Leeds without a Premier League win since August, a run of six games which has seen Marsch’s side pick up just two points.

Having only just scraped Premier League survival last season, Merson has already shared his worries for the Whites after failing to take their opportunities on Sunday:

“I thought Leeds were unlucky against Arsenal, but they’re now dropping down in the Premier League table. I’m worried for them at the moment – when you’re near the bottom of the league, you cannot afford to miss penalties.”

TIF Thoughts on Merson’s comments…

It is very tight towards the bottom of the Premier League table with just one point separating Leeds and the relegation zone but also just four points separating them from Liverpool in eighth.

Is Marsch the right man for Leeds?

There have been some cause for optimism this season like the emphatic victory over Chelsea earlier in the season but perhaps that only emphasises the frustrations after the loss on Sunday.

Bamford has had his issues over the last year but the penalty offered him an opportunity to get back on track in a Leeds shirt but he was unable to convert.

But as Merson suggests, Leeds can feel unlucky coming out of the game against the league leaders but it will count for nothing if they are unable to take anything from their next game against Leicester City.
