Celtic may be looking to make Moritz Jenz’s loan move from Lorient into a permanent deal.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest transfer news from Celtic Park.

Jenz arrived at Celtic this summer on a season-long loan deal, with the Scottish champions having the option to make the deal permanent when it expires at the end of the campaign.

The 23-year-old has already expressed his desire to stay at the club come the end of his loan move, stating: “Yes, definitely. I hope it will be a long-term thing because for me it’s a dream.

“I hope I can do my best for the club and stay for longer. The style in Scotland suits me.”

And O’Rourke believes that the club will indeed look to take up the option of a permanent deal, with the German defender becoming a regular in the side this season.

He said: “I think he’s come in and he’s slotted in nicely into that defence.

“He’s got a regular run in the team, probably due to Carl Starfelt’s injury at the minute, but I think he’s impressed alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers.

“He can’t do much more now than trying to impress Ange Postecoglou, [to show him] that deserves a permanent move.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We think that Celtic fans will be delighted to hear that the club are likely to take up the opportunity to bring Jenz to the club on a permanent deal, with the centre-back performing well so far in his time at Celtic Park.

An average SofaScore rating of 7.14 for his performances in the Premiership this season suggests that the Berlin-born centre-back has adapted to life in Scotland well, with the defender’s rating making him the second-best ranked defender at the club after Carl Starfelt.

Therefore, we believe that the Celtic hierarchy should be doing everything they can to secure Jenz’s permanent arrival by the time his loan has concluded, with the centre-back proving to be another astute addition made during Ange Postecoglou’s reign.
