BBC Sport Scotland’s Martin Dowden was left purring by Sead Haksabanovic’s performance for Celtic as they coasted to victory this weekend.

The Hoops bounced back from their Champions League defeat in style as they hammered Hibernian 6-1, racing into a three-goal lead at Celtic Park before the break.

While many plaudits will go to hat-trick hero James Forrest, who notched his 100th for the club on the afternoon, it was Haksabanovic who caught the eye as he supplied the ammunition for Celtic’s devastating attacks.

Indeed, the winger – who made his first home start in midweek against RB Leipzig – was ‘instrumental’ in Forrest’s first two goals before being replaced at the half-time interval.

Dowden was among those raving about his performance, saying at the break: “These are seriously worrying times for Hibs.

“They came in with confidence and that is being utterly shattered by a Celtic side who are firing on all cylinders.

“The source of all three goals is the extremely high quality of delivery from wide areas, with Sead Haksabanovic instrumental in two of them.”

TIF Thoughts on Sead Haksabanovic and Celtic…

It would be difficult for anyone to overshadow Forrest’s milestone treble, but it appears that Haksabanovic has certainly made people sit up and take notice amid another dazzling cameo.

His stats back this up, with the former Rubin Kazan star posting a 96% passing accuracy – failing with just one attempt in 45 minutes – and playing three key passes, which was the joint-best of anyone in Celtic colours (as per SofaScore).

The Montenegro winger seems to be building something of a reputation for causing ‘havoc’, having received similar praise for his performance against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League a month ago.

And having been given a third successive start by Ange Postecoglou on Saturday afternoon, perhaps this is just the beginning of a promising Celtic career for the 23-year-old as he continues to get to grips with Scottish football and performing for the Parkhead faithful.
