Journalist Tony Haggerty has slammed Celtic forward Sead Haksabanovic after his disappointing display in the club’s most recent match.

Over the past weekend, the Bhoys took on fellow Scottish Premiership outfit Livingston away from home and managed to give their title ambitions another boost.

Indeed, Ange Postecoglou’s men picked up all three points in a fairly routine 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Kyogo Furuhashi, Greg Taylor and Jota – while Giorgos Giakoumakis also missed a penalty.

Despite the Celtic win, some players were perhaps not at their best on the day, and this was noted by Haggerty when he published his player ratings for The Celtic Way.

Indeed, whilst highlighting the winger’s desire to improve, he handed Haksabanovic a 6/10 for his display, writing:

“‘I still have some levels to reach. Hopefully, I can start helping the team with some points, assists and goals’ were the words of the Montenegrin ahead of the Livingston clash. He appeared to accidentally kick Livingston goalkeeper Jack Hamilton in the head as he chased a through ball but escaped any punishment. He was desperate to be involved and saw a lot of the ball but couldn’t turn it into either assists or goals.”

TIF Thoughts on Sead Haksabanovic and Celtic…

When looking at the winger’s stats on SofaScore, they don’t make for great reading. Haksabanovic lost the ball 14 times, had the lowest pass completion rate of any Celtic starter with 79%, gave away five fouls, had only one shot (which was blocked) and won just 2/10 attempted duels.

With that in mind, it’s little wonder that he was viewed so poorly by Haggerty in his player ratings. Of all the Celtic players, his 6.8 SofaScore rating was also the joint-worst.

It was evidently not a great day individually for Haksabanovic, but he did at least see his team pick up the win, which helps keep them four points clear at the top of the league table in Scotland.
