Journalist Liam Keen feels that Diego Costa will be rested for Wolves’ next Premier League fixture in midweek.

Keen was speaking following Saturday’s win at Molineux that lifted the club out of the bottom three.

The victory over Nottingham Forest ended a three-game losing run for the Old Gold, who are now just three points off the top half of the table.

The side now face a quick turnaround with a trip to south London to take on Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, and ahead of the game, Keen raised the suggestion that Costa – who started up top on Saturday – may be rotated out of the side.

As posted on the Express & Star YouTube channel following the game, he said: “We weren’t sure how many minutes Costa was going to be able to play.

“He played 56 against Chelsea, they were hoping he’d be able to play more today and he did – I think it was the 83rd [minute] or something like that he came off, so he played a lot more than maybe even they were expecting.

“It wouldn’t massively surprise me if he was benched against Palace with the game being so soon, and they can’t really risk him being injured – but that is one for them to assess.”

TIF Thoughts on Diego Costa and Wolves…

Will Wolves be relegated?

Yes!

No!

No!

Costa was brought into Molineux following a cruciate ligament injury to summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic.

With Raul Jimenez also struggling for fitness, maintaining Costa’s health is pivotal.

The 34-year-old made his second successive start for the Molineux outfit on Saturday and is gradually building up his minutes.

However, with fixtures coming thick and fast, he may well be left out of the starting XI for the visit to Selhurst Park as the club look to manage his game time, and we share Keen’s prediction that he may be rested amid their busy schedule.
