Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Hugo Bueno has been described as “one of the few shining lights” in the club’s 4-0 home defeat to Leicester City.

That is the view of the Express & Star’s Liam Keen in the outlet’s post-match debrief following the club’s embarrassing performance on Sunday afternoon.

It was an atrocious afternoon for Wolves, who slipped to 19th in the Premier League after allowing Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City side to dismantle them at Molineux as the East Midlands outfit secured their first away victory this season.

However, the performance of Bueno, who was making just his third Premier League appearance, was one of the only rays of light on an otherwise dark day for the Molineux faithful.

And Keen was quick to note that the 20-year-old put in a “decent” showing on an afternoon where there was little positivity for Wolves fans to take home.

He said: “You bring Hugo Bueno in – he was probably one of the few shining lights again today.

“He wasn’t quite as good as he was at Palace, but I thought he had a decent showing. Him and Chem Campbell, when he came on, two young lads who showed a bit of bottle and went over and approached the fans afterwards – and the fans gave them appreciation back.”

TIF Thoughts on Keen’s comments…

We agree with Keen and believe that some of Wolves’ lesser-performing players can be embarrassed about how Bueno has shown them up in terms of effort over the last couple of fixtures.

The Spaniard wasn’t excellent, but was at least attempting to make things happen for the West Midlands side, making 31/34 accurate passes and attempting seven crosses – three of which were successful, according to SofaScore.

Therefore, we believe that whilst Bueno wasn’t up to the same standards as his performance at Crystal Palace (in which the youngster notched an assist), he was still an impressive figure in an unimpressive display from the side.
