Journalist Toby Cudworth has slammed West Ham United’s Pablo Fornals following his performance in Europe on Thursday night.
The Spaniard started the game as the Hammers played out matchday five of their Europa Conference League campaign.
With a chance to clinch the group, David Moyes’ side obliged as they recorded a 1-0 victory at the London Stadium.
Manuel Lanzini’s 24th-minute penalty proved the difference as the Irons secured qualification to the round of 16.
Despite the victory, Fornals could have put the game to bed shortly before he was taken off but he somehow dragged his effort from the edge of the area wide of the post.
Taking to Twitter Cudoworth reacted by writing :
“I’m a big fan of Pablo Fornals but christ he does miss some sitters. His finishing simply must improve, dead rubber game or not.”

TIF Thoughts on Cudworth’s comments…
Have you been impressed with Fornals so far this season?YesNo |
Like many of his teammates, the attacking midfielder is someway short of the form he found last season. His average match rating this term of 6.57 (via WhoScored) perhaps reflects his lack of confidence in front of goal at present.
The 26-year-old made his mark in the game against Silkeborg having 60 touches and completing 86% of his passes but lost possession 13 times.
However, two of his three attempts were off target and having only hit a season-high six goals in his career it is something the six-cap Spain ace needs to work on.
That is a tally Fornals has matched in back-to-back seasons in east London but as Cudworth earmarked his finishing must improve if he is to remain a key player at West Ham given the other attacking options Moyes has at his expense.
