West Ham United’s appointment of Mark Noble is a part of a long-term vision that the east London side have.

That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from the London Stadium.

The Irons confirmed Noble’s appointment as sporting director of the club last week, with the club legend taking up the role on 2nd January 2023.

The 35-year-old retired from playing at the end of last season, having made 550 appearances for the Irons over almost 18 years of service to the club.

And Jones believes that the appointment of Noble as sporting director is something that fans of the club will be receptive of, looking ahead to the future.

“I think that this is a long-term vision that the club have got.

“I think it’s one that the fans will absolutely be on board with.

“They’ll be delighted to see Mark Noble staying around the club to make sure the club has continuity.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments

We agree with Jones and believe that West Ham fans will be delighted to see a club legend operating in such a senior and vital role heading into the new year.

Noble’s wealth of experience of not only playing for the Hammers, but playing in the top-flight for many years will come in handy when it comes to making important decisions regarding the playing staff at the top of the club.

However, his inexperience as a sporting director means that the London-born legend’s spell in the club’s hierarchy could make for compelling viewing.
