Presenter Dave Walker has slammed West Ham United fans for their recent abuse of defender Vladimir Coufal which caused him to delete a social media post.

According to Hammers.news, the Czech fullback has struggled for form of late and after posting a message online he then felt the need to delete it as it drew a horrible response from his own set of supporters.

Most recently, he then shared a cryptic Twitter post made up of just emojis that may have been a way of thanking those West Ham fans who have come to his defence.

One supporter who seems to have Coufal’s back is Walker who recently took to Twitter to condemn the actions of those who have been happy to abuse one of their own players.

He wrote: “Imagine being a West Ham fan and making one of your own players delete a tweet because of the abuse he received?! Madness…. What is wrong with people?”

TIF thoughts on Vladimir Coufal and West Ham…

In that most recent West Ham game – a 1-1 draw in the Premier League against Southampton – it may well be true that Coufal wasn’t at his best. Indeed, it has been said that he offered up a ‘ below-par display on the day’.

Regardless of recent form, however, that certainly is no excuse to go and hound a player online to the point where he is forced to delete his social media posts.

That’s hardly going to help him feel confident enough to rediscover his best form. What’s more, Coufal has been a great servant to the club in recent times and played a key role in the club’s thrilling Europa League run last season – starting in the quarter-final win over Lyon and helping his side keep a clean sheet in that match.

With that in mind, the 30-year-old probably should be afforded a little more care and consideration from the West Ham fans, and so it’s no shock to see Walker come to Coufal’s defence.

Should Vladimir Coufal start for West Ham when everyone is fit?
