There are “no guarantees” on the availability of Sweden winger Dejan Kulusevski for Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Manchester United on Wednesday night.

That is according to injury expert Ben Dinnery, who was speaking on Monday evening’s instalment of FPL injuries ahead of a midweek Premier League schedule.

Kulusevski returned from international duty with Sweden with a muscle problem at the end of September, which has ruled him out of action since his return to Hotspur Way.

Despite returning to training in the past week, manager Antonio Conte simply said “we will see” in response to a potential return to the side on Wednesday evening for the 22-year-old, before hinting that Lucas Moura, Bryan Gil, and Ivan Perisic could play out wide as well.

And Dinnery has stated that there’s no guarantee on Kulusevski or any other player who has recently been sidelined for a return on Wednesday.

“Dejan Kulusevski, he’s managing that ongoing hamstring problem,” Dinnery told FPL injuries (05:26).

“He has been seen on the training pictures, but Antonio Conte has said he’s still with the medical department.

“So, there’s no guarantees on his availability for the game against Manchester United.

“Indeed, those players who are currently sidelined, he said it would be difficult for any of those to return on Wednesday.”

TIF Thoughts on Dinnery’s comments…

Judging by both Conte and Dinnery’s comments, we think that a return to the side for Kulusevski is unlikely on Wednesday night, as we think Spurs will be unwilling to potentially exacerbate the wide-man’s injury before he has returned to full fitness.

Whilst the 27-time winger’s presence would definitely improve the side, we think that Spurs fans would be happy knowing he will be returning in the near-future and will be happy to see that the club are unlikely to take any needless risks.

However, having scored six goals and provided 11 assists in 29 Tottenham appearances, Conte’s side will certainly be missing an extra goal-threat when they travel to Old Trafford this week.

Therefore, whilst it is a frustration to not have Kulusevski available, we think that Spurs fans will be delighted to know that he is on his way back to full fitness imminently.
