Tottenham Hotspur could look to sign another player in the mould of Sweden winger Dejan Kulusevski.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest transfer news from Hotspur Way.

Despite spending around £150m in the summer, Antonio Conte was unable to bring in an attacking midfielder to play between the lines during the window.

Winger Kulusevski has been out of action since mid-September after suffering a thigh problem whilst out on international duty with Sweden during the previous international break.

Jones believes that the side have missed the 22-year-old during his absence, and the club may look to recruit someone of a similar style in an upcoming transfer window.

He said: “I think it’s becoming clear that Spurs are missing a link. There’s nothing really in the midfield that’s linking things up. Kulusevski’s clearly been a big miss while he’s been on the sidelines. It might be that they look for another player of that type.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We agree with Jones and think that a player who is capable of playing that number ten role is exactly what Conte needs, with his side being a little bit stale to watch so far this season.

And given Kulusevski’s output from wide – with 17 goal involvements in 29 appearances for Spurs – we can see why Conte could be looking for another player in the Swede’s mould.

Nicolò Zaniolo has been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from Roma a number of times over the past few months, with the attacking midfielder perhaps capable of arriving as the missing piece of the puzzle.

Journalist Paul Brown has also previously suggested to GiveMeSport that Spurs could reignite their summer interest in Everton starlet Anthony Gordon, who may be adaptable to be able to play in between the lines between attack and midfield.

We are inclined to agree with Jones in this instance and believe that Spurs will be targeting a player of Kulusevski’s ilk due to the fact that the side needs to be strengthened in creative attacking areas.
